$5.00 thrift chairs to my FAV new chairs!!

I knew they had potential as soon as i laid eyes on them down the isle...plus a set of four!!

and they folded up so well......

So after a couple coats of spray paint and popping out the seats--and working on the legs and frame to take the "wiggles" out.....I just tightened each screw and voila..they were a lot sturdier !

I decided to try a transfer....I found mine at
http://www.graphicsfairy-diy.com/
coolest place EVER!!!

Use a paint brush to apply the Citrasolv ( i picked mine up at a local health food store) over the print you are transferring...HINT***you must print the transfer from a copier that uses toner.......Tape your transfer down to be sure it stays in place....

Use a spoon and apply pressure to the transfer...

Peel back to see if it transferred....
I used a staple gun and covered the original padded seats with the fabric--I did double the fabric to get the color I wanted....

I used them for my daughter's baby shower last week -- here's the link if you are looking for shower decorating ideas.....http://midwestcottageandfinds.blogspot.com/2011/11/baby-shower-decorating-ideas.html
and they will be out again on Thanksgiving!

  1. That is a splendid transformation. That the chairs fold would have clinched it for me too.

  3. Thank you for posting this. I've been wondering how to print on fabric. Do you need to spray something on the fabric after you transfer the print? Your chair looks beautiful. Looking forward to following your blog.

I LOVE your chairs! love, love, love 'em. I have been looking for citrasolv and couldn't find it at my regular stops so I ordered some online yesterday. I didn't know you need "toner" :(
Just means an extra trip to staples.
