One more piece for the sale!!

i LOVE vintage washstands...placed either in entry way, dining room, hall or family room...they just fit.......I will have a few at my June 2nd sale...here is one I finished up this weekend....I used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint--Old White with light colored wax and distressed with a 400 grit sandpaper because the chalk paint sands so easily...I left the original hardware........
and then I moved on to some great old wooden boxes that needed some attention before the sale....Will share some pics tomorrow...........Hope your Mother's Day weekend was filled with many smiles...and some paint!

One of the first blogs I started following was Gail's at "My Repurposed Life"...Gail has been a friend ever since...She is creative, inventive and always has a project  that she is in the middle of--so when she was looking for guest posts at her "place" I jumped right in!  Hop on over and check out my guest post--and then check out her projects.....and be SURE to stop in at Gail's on Thursday's and check out her "Catch  as Catch Can" Linky Party--You will find GREAT DIY projects!
See you there!

Chalk Paint & Chalk Board Paint

What a busy weekend...
Getting ready for the June 2nd sale!
Here are some shots of the chalkboards I have been busy with the last couple of days....

love the old wood on these.....

I actually have 2 of them....they look like they were doors to a built in at one point....
This next chalkboard was a very large picture frame....
I painted it in ASCP Old White and distressed it--and added some light and dark wax.....

love the distressed details on this one....

and one more.....

This one I painted with ASCP Paris Grey, and highlighted with some Old White and light and dark wax................

 &
the next project..........here is a peek....

Love the curves............

and after that...........

Oh....take your pick......

Hardware...the earrings and necklaces of furniture....

One thing I adore about vintage furniture is the hardware...When at an auction or estate sale don't look past the pieces that are damaged or in terrible shape....remember--check out the hardware..you can pick up some great vintage hardware really cheap off damaged furniture....Funny story--at a recent estate sale I was digging thru an old dirty garage that had some water damaged furniture stored away in the back corner....I spied an old dresser that everyone else looked beyond...There were 2 men in the garage with me when I spied her and said wow--she has GREAT KNOBS!!  The both looked at one another and one said wow---we are glad you said that.....you might have been upset if one of us shouted that out --maybe misunderstand what we were talking about!!  We all three had a laugh....check out this awesome handle on this vintage chalk board I picked up recently....The patina one this piece is beautiful.....

Love this board!
The color reminds me of grade school.....
and a reminder.....my sale is right around the corner!!
and this little beauty will be there.....

Auction Finds..

With my sale right around the corner...I decided to go to ONE MORE auction to pick up a few final pieces to paint for the sale....
if you watched the weather at all this weekend you know there were storms all over....and it POURED during most of the auction...

It was so difficult to see pieces like this sit in the rain all day...

check out this great door with a sliding track--it got a lot of attention....it did not come home with me...I tried - but it went for about double of what i was willing to pay...

This little washstand had me at hello....minus the laundry basket of "goodies" parked on top of it!

at the end of the rainy, muddy day...........
I started collecting my finds......
a great frame to make a chalkboard out of,
a really cool chair,
my little washstand,
a little half circle table............

and a couple of really rough benches...

that after some sanding and a little Annie Sloan Duck Egg Blue Chalk Paint...they might look a little like this!   I posted the "how to" link under the pic if you are interested!  Enjoy!
