Wedding Rehearsal Dinner DIY Decorations

The summer of 2010 was a summer of weddings in our house..my son and daughter were both married and we attended 3 other weddings -- all unique in their own way.  I will  be sharing DIY photos and ideas from them all over the next couple weeks.   First off...rehearsal dinner for my son's wedding.  My son and daughter-in-law selected this venue as both families have celebrated special occasions here over the years ..the exposed brick was just an added bonus when we selected this room for our evening! It is in a old warehouse type building-very vintage...but the rooms needed a little something.....I spent several hours at the facility taking notes and pictures the weeks leading up to the event...decided vintage was the theme and started organizing my old vases and blue ball canning jars.  I decided we would do all wild flowers from our home and I began doing test runs with the vases and flowers.....a must!
I also started purchasing vintage frames to antique and make blackboards to place throughout the room.....and  couple days before the event--it happened--our sunflowers started to open!  I was thrilled the morning of the rehearsal dinner as my husband and I collected wild flowers and sunflowers and transported them to the room..in 5 gallon buckets...LOTS of 5 gallon buckets! Here we are upon arrival---
The entire set up took about 7 hours......
The vintage typewriter on the table behind the welcome chalkboard sign-
(which matched their invitation) had a small chalkboard next to it asking the guests to type a note to the bride and groom.....
This chalkboard was at the entrance of the venue with a bubble machine hidden below it-- little tiny bubbles filled the air as our guests arrived....The flowers and different vases added the touch I was looking for..we made our menu cards with scrap book paper and attached little bows to the top...
Scroll up to the first pictures of the room and notice what a difference table cloths and little lights make..It is in the details!! Wish we could do it again!

  1. Wow, All those flowers came from your garden? They are gorgeous and I know your garden must be too. The chalkboards were a fantastic idea, love the typewriter and the lights you added. You did a wonderful job on dressing up the venue.

  8. Rehearsal Dinner DIY Decorations are super nice. Thanks a lot for sharing photos. We are just back from a destination wedding and it was superbly organized by couple itself. They had DIY pink fairy themed ceremony at wedding venues chicago. Enjoyed a lot over there.
