Vintage Chairs......

These 5 beauties came from a great little farm auction last fall….

To say they needed a bit of work is an understatement….

The original idea was to paint them white and add some stenciling or some transfers….

I just did not like the white…..it was just too….too…..white….which is not like me……I LOVE WHITE…

Next step…stare at 2 of the chairs side by side and think…maybe I should just stain and play up their wood detail???and strip the one I just painted???..but a couple REALLY needed paint….

Up next…..play with paint colors…………..

and try some out……

I decided to try some Annie Sloan Country Grey over the white—and really liked the way the white was showing through…It goes well with the style of chair…..sort of looks like a few old  layers of paint showing through……

I also liked the Country Grey with the a bit of the natural wood showing through…

So I decided to wax it and see how it looked…..The left side is waxed—you can see the difference…

LOVE IT!! You can see a bit of the white, the original stain and some of the wood...and it is a bit crackled....... That is all I have to show for now—because by now my weekend was O V E R!!  But now I know the routine and hopefully the next four will not take 3 days to get to this point…in which over 3 days time I used Websters Chalk Paint Additive to the first 2 coats of American Accents Heirloom White followed by a coat of Miss Mustard Seed’s Ironstone and finished up with ASCP Country Grey…….that’s A LOT of trial and error…..but I think I may have gotten it right in the end…and I may have created a new color—Webster’s American Ironstone Country Grey!

And the finished product--

  2. Didn't know you had a knack for naming paint colors, did you!! You're right... it does take a bit of playing around to figure out just what would look best. But you took your time and arrived at just the right thing! Now get cracking at those other chairs, missy!! LOL

  3. Today, I went to the beach front with my kids. I found a
sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She
put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally
off topic but I had to tell someone!

  9. Hey there just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The
text in your article seem to be running off the screen in Safari.
I'm not sure if this is a formatting issue or something to do with web browser compatibility but I thought I'd post to let you know.
The layout look great though! Hope you get the issue solved soon.

    Many thanks

  10. I know this if off topic but I'm looking into starting my own blog and was wondering what all is needed to get setup? I'm assuming having
a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I'm not very internet smart so I'm not 100% sure. Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

  11. First of all I would like to say excellent blog! I had a
quick question which I'd like to ask if you do not mind. I was interested to know how you center yourself and clear your mind before writing. I have had a hard time clearing my mind in getting my ideas out. I do enjoy writing however it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes tend to be wasted just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or hints? Appreciate it!
