Generation After Generation After Generation

One of my current projects is painting this dresser......

it was my dresser as a child, then my daughters, and then my first granddaughters.......

and now it is going from pink and white 

to completely white for my next granddaughter.....

25 years ago this is what my oldest daughter stenciled on the back of the dresser(when she was five)  as we were painting it in anticipation of the arrival of her baby sister...

and now 25 years later.....that same baby sister is going to have this dresser 

in her daughter's nursery....

which by the way has been a GREAT on going project 

that I will be taking pictures of once the crib is assembled.

Here is a sneak peek of the early stages...let's just say stripes are NOT easy.....but totally worth the time and trouble...I will be sharing my how to tips--and more importantly --what NOT TO do very soon in the upcoming nursery post......

Sharing a little trick to shopping on-line at Goodwill

One of my favorite on-line stores- www.shopgoodwill.com ......great finds at a great price...right?  But if you found a cool item like this-

...you know it would cost an arm and leg to ship that beauty right?? making the deal not so special...

Well--did you know you could search by location on their website and if there is a Goodwill location that sells by you - you can just run over and pick up the item...saving shipping cost..... Think about it......

you see items like the one above--(that went for $35.00 on their website-sadly not to me...it was a bit too far to drive to pick up)

or something like this......

at a location close to you....you bid on it..win it and pick it up... for a few bucks....All the items above were for sale on their website and went for less than $40.00!!

So here is how to find out if there is an on-line store near you-

go to the website...www.shopgoodwill.com

on the upper right side of the screen commands click search...

on the 3rd drop down category on that screen click seller and find your state and location....

you can just select that location and hit search and all the items at that store will be shown to you.....This site is a lot like craigslist...hit and miss..So check it often for that special item...unless it is in East Peoria, Illinois....I call dibs on all of those!

Live near Grandville, MI.? Wish I did .....check out these two great pieces up for bid at your Goodwill..

It's Fall Ya'll Mantel

Fall Mantel 2011....this year I went with items purchased at 

Pottery Barn Outlet 

and a couple auctions and estate sales....

The vase was a gaudy color..but I liked it's detail....picked it up for 25 cents....and repainted it white...

 The frames were each picked up at garage sales and repainted and dark wax applied....

 Nothin' but love for this big boy...one of my favorite pulleys....

 Pottery Barn Outlet pumpkin.....under $1.00!!

 All pieces...all vintage....all fall ya'll!
