Master Bedroom Update-Bye-Bye-Bye

It has been a long time getting to this point...but in the words of our favorite boy-band....BYE - BYE - BYE!!

Here is where we were a couple days ago...Everything out of the room...the discoloration  on the carpet is from a rug I had under the bed--stained the carpet in certain areas....not a good idea..must have made sense at the time when i put it there...Don't you love the closet doors...Straight out of the Brady Bunch parent's room.....

Finally......the carpet rolled up and the padding being removed...there is an IMPORTANT reason I am sharing this picture with you.......notice the dark color at the bottom of the picture..Yes--it is MOLD....I had mold in the entire pattern of where I spot cleaned my carpets every other week with Capture Carpet Cleaner....I even put fans on the spray mist once it was down EVERY time....I need to revisit that process for the rest of my carpet......
Next step...remove the carpet tack strip...BE VERY careful...These little nails are sharp and rusty.....Hubby  used a special tool for this--it did pop right up.....

And now....clean that floor and fill the little concrete holes along the wall .....it is drying as we speak read and write...

I am finally beginning to feel like this might become a reality.
Keepin' my eye on the prize.....my goal picture is below--and Layla and Kevin's link is there also...check them out if you have not already...

WHAT have I gotten myself into???

Ever said those words to yourself after jumping into a project?  Well I must admit I have been a little absent lately --but I have good reason...MASTER BEDROOM PROJECT....darn you Layla from http://theletteredcottage.net/ Why did your bedroom project have to look so WONDERFUL SCRUMP-DILLY-IOUS?..See I am making up words now....Here is the goal.....Layla and Kevin's Master bedroom...

Here is where I was last night--even my yellow lab looks confused and wondering --what is she doing now???  Don't fret my pet--things will begin to look a bit more organized....in a day or two...or three..or four...for sure before I leave for Round Top Texas Antique Fun!! Wish me luck, cross your fingers, and believe me disorganization drives me crazy...can't look at the photo below any longer :)

On a cleaner, nicer note.....here is one of the new future closet doors--looking pretty in white..and if you look closely you will see another item peeking out in the lower bottom of the picture that is involved in this project.....If this all turns out...I will be dancing the 2 step at Round Top in celebration!!

Auction Thursday!

I went to an auction last Thursday with my daughter–in- law who was visiting from Texas..we previewed  auction photos & both of us had our eyes on a couple of items….and they both (and a couple more items) went from the auction house……. to my house—I will deliver her items to Texas when I come for the Round Top Extravaganza!   Take a look at our finds:

Okay…I’ll admit Santa is a BIT rough..but the auction table was down to $3.00 for any item…how could you leave a vintage Santa for $3.00?……can’t you see him sitting in a vintage box with old ornaments and a few brown paper wrapped gifts with great vintage Christmas ribbon on them?

This vintage egg collecting basket will be heading to Texas to my daughter-in-laws… along with the great mixing bowl and some vintage silverware from the 1800’s…..

The top long wooden box – I will either stain or paint white and fill with glass votive candle holders and sit in the middle of  my dining room table…the bottom box was just too cool to leave behind….so that was our Thursday auction finds----now back to the bedroom project :)
