Antiquing in Texas Part 3 Honey’s Home Plus Style
If I was Oprah this would be one of my favorite things…. I LOVE this place….Once again—like Miss Dottie (see previous post-part one) Honey is a TEXAS JEWEL! She spent 45 minutes to an hour walking me thru her store sharing her story on how she came to be. She started in what would be about 1/3 of the space she has now and has taken over more of the building as her business has grown. Her husband Jeff works with her rebuilding, repairing and reinventing some of their finds…..Her story in an interesting one and is on her website:
http://www.honeys-home-style.com
You HAVE to go to her online gallery on the website—and believe me the pictures are only a SMALL percentage of the interesting things you will find there…her furniture is (in Oprah’s excited voice) BEAU--TI--FUL!!!! This showroom is worth the drive if you are ANYWHERE near Waco……you will not be disappointed…Her couches, chairs, tables, bedding would make a house a home….Below are a few of my finds. She has smaller items also like the ones I purchased…from my FIRST of what will be MANY visits at Honey’s Home Plus Style….one more note-- after paying for my purchases Honey picked up my bags and walked them out to my car for me as we continued visiting…she didn't miss a beat….this is a GREAT FIND!! Enjoy!!
Here is my wire basket with wooden handles and galvanized insert…already have it placed in my home! I love, love, love it!
One more view…did I tell you I LOVE it?
I purchased a mercury glass knob for one of my little tables…
Also already placed in my home…
And here are some mini wooden clothespins I picked up for a project I am working on….i have several vintage frames from the decorating I did for my son’s rehearsal dinner… time to reinvent them…
My mother on her wedding day…..….love the detail in this frame…used a little raffia ribbon to hang the items on….this is still a work in progress but needed to give you a sneak peek so you could see the pins from Honeys…
More tomorrow……I love me some Texas shopping :)
guess I’m not the only blogger who loves Honey’s—check out
Red Neck Chic’s post about Honeys—and there are pics!!

Antiquing in Texas Part 2 Spice Village Downtown Waco
The next stop was in downtown Waco- in what I would call an old warehouse building transformed into tons of wonderful shops…called Spice Village…there is something for everyone ..if you walk out of there empty handed you don’t know how to shop! One of the greatest parts of Spice Village—the $5.00 lunch special at Simply Good Eatery - great homemade lunches --I try to hit that stop during lunch each visit—it is hmmmmm good! Here are a couple cool items I purchased at a little vintage shop in Spice Village-
I think the pieces I purchased to hold vintage pics of my mom and dad are called frogs..correct me if i am wrong-please….I know vintage frogs were used to hold flowers-but not sure if these are considered those types of frogs…..These look great anywhere in your house- Love –love- love my vintage numbers……
My mom was a shopper..she would love this place-lots of different shops with one of a kind items….
Spice Village--http://www.spicewaco.com/
check it out!! Lots of great finds!!!
tomorrows stop ……..Honeys Home Plus Style and still more to come…Texas shopping is AWESOME…. .thanks for stopping……

Antiquing in Texas Part 1 Show and Tell Antiques Waco, Texas
If I realized anything on this trip to Texas it was that the people are as interesting and enjoyable as the antiques and finds….First stop—Show and Tell Antiques – Waco Texas-This turn of the century mansion is enough to make you want to stop and put your feet up on the wrap around porch. The mansion boasts 7 fireplaces, 2 sets of stairs (servants and residents) and original stained glass windows. It was built in 1909 and was the home of Robert Lazenby-the creator of Dr. Pepper…It is a BEAUTY! If you EVER need replacement silver, fine china or crystal you have come to the right place. Miss Dottie spent an hour and half with me as she told me secrets about the home, it’s history and the antiques it houses…She shared with me that First Lady Laura Bush stopped in one day to look for end tables…The First Lady even posed for pictures that are proudly displayed in the foyer!
These are only a FEW of many pieces they have. They do estate sales for the larger estates from Dallas to Houston. I can tell you if you are looking for a particular item it is a good chance they have it….Every room in this mansion is FILLED with antiques and pieces of all kinds..Here is what I came away with….the little ironstone pitcher will be perfect for my future display, the little tulip style bowls were calling out to me…the pinecone duck is so detailed you almost forget what it is made of and the miniature cattle was the perfect piece for me to remember this trip to Texas!
Miss Dottie told me they do ship items so if you need a replacement for your collection - give her a call-she will be happy to help. Below is the contact info. Miss Dottie told me they don't have a website because they just don't understand that internet .. gotta love it! She was a jewel and I so enjoyed spending time with her………
